Myanmar amends restrictions for import licences
25 June 2024
On 30 May 2024, the Myanmar Ministry of Commerce’s Department of Trade published two issues of its Export/Import Newsletter relating to the arrival and storage of imported goods in Myanmar prior to the issuance of the relevant licences.
Newsletter No. 2/2024 reduces the categories of goods that may be stored in bonded warehouses without an import licence from 14 to four. This change came into effect on 7 June 2024. The four categories remaining are medicine, various electric vehicles and accessories, industrial raw materials and industrial raw chemicals, and raw food materials.
Newsletter No. 3/2024 repeats previous warnings that goods that must have an import licence cannot arrive in Myanmar prior to the issuance of the licence.
