On 1 May 2020, the Prime Minister of Malaysia announced that almost all economic sectors and businesses would be allowed to resume operations, subject to compliance with the prescribed standard operating procedures (“SOPs”) under the Conditional Movement Control Order (“CMCO”).

The CMCO is intended to have effect from 4 May until 9 June 2020 (“CMCO Period”), and is implemented through the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) (No. 5) Regulations 2020 (“PCID Regulations No. 5”) (effective from 4 May 2020 to 12 May 2020) and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) (No. 6) Regulations 2020 (“PCID Regulations No. 6”) (effective for the remainder of the CMCO Period).
