Maritime & Aviation
Responding to challenges
Our Maritime & Aviation Practice handles multi-jurisdictional, high-profile and complex matters and provides seamless and integrated access to the experience of our maritime and aviation practitioners, as well as our practitioners in other relevant areas of the law, where required, through the Allen & Gledhill network known as A&G Asia. We are well-resourced to meet the urgency often characteristic of this sector and count as one of our key strengths our dedication and responsiveness to our clients' needs. Our range of services is extensive and covers the full spectrum of maritime and aviation work.
Committed support and experience
In the maritime sphere, we are regularly involved in contentious and non-contentious work, including the setting up of operations in Malaysia, ship sale and purchase, fundraising in the equity and debt capital markets, secured and unsecured vessel lending and leasing, mergers and acquisitions, domestic and international litigation, banking and finance litigation, arbitration and mediation relating to the carriage of goods, charterparties, international trade and transport, offshore oil and gas, ship construction and repair, regulatory issues, insurance, casualties, enforcement and repossession, and restructuring and insolvency.
In the aviation space, our work frequently involves aircraft sale and purchase transactions, liaising with the Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia and the Malaysian Aviation Commission, aviation financing, aircraft mortgages, leasing transactions (including through the Labuan International Business & Financial Centre), regulatory issues, enforcement, and repossession. The team also advises on the application of the Cape Town Convention under Malaysian law.

Our extensive clientele is both local and international, including leading financial institutions, equity providers, commodity traders, Protection and Indemnity Clubs, insurers, ship owners, charterers, shipbuilders and repairers, export credit agencies, financiers, domestic and international airlines, aircraft operators, lessors, and lessees.
