MAS publishes guidance on incorporating Basic Financial Planning Guide into financial advisory processes

On 31 January 2025, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (“MAS”) published its Industry Good Practices: The Basic Financial Planning Guide (“Guide”). This document provides guidance (i) to financial advisers on incorporating the Guide into the financial advisory process and (ii) on the training of financial advisory representatives.

The good practices include:

• establishing comprehensive training materials;
• utilising effective ways to build knowledge on the Guide;
• emphasising the Guide through targeted training strategies;
• sharing the Guide at the start of the financial planning journey; and
• incorporating the Guide into financial needs calculators.

MAS encourages all financial advisers to adopt these good practices.
