Guang Yi’s areas of practice include public and private mergers and acquisitions (both domestic and cross-border), joint ventures, private equity, venture capital, foreign investments and other areas of corporate and commercial law.

She has represented corporate clients, venture capital investors and private equity funds in transactions across a broad spectrum of industries, including manufacturing, retail and consumer, financial services, healthcare, technology and e-commerce.

Guang Yi was seconded to Allen & Gledhill LLP from 2019 to 2020, where she acted for venture capital investors and companies in funding rounds.

Guang Yi graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She joined the Firm as a pupil in 2016 after obtaining the Certificate in Legal Practice (Malaysia) and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in the same year. She was also admitted as a Solicitor of the Senior Court of England and Wales in 2023.

Work Highlights

• Advised ANZ Group as local counsel in its sale of all its shares held in AMMB Holdings Berhad (AmBank).
• Advised Universal Robina Corporation on its acquisition of 100% of Munchy Food Industries Sdn. Bhd. and its wholly-owned subsidiary Munchworld Marketing Sdn. Bhd., from the private equity firm CVC Capital Partners, for RM1.925 billion.
• Advised Malayan Cement Berhad on the acquisition of the equity interest of 10 companies and their respective subsidiaries which are involved in cement and ready-mixed concrete businesses in Malaysia from YTL Cement Berhad, for a total consideration of RM5.158 billion.
